Spec
An append-only activity_log capturing every state change - who, what, when, before and after values - implemented as an event pattern rather than extra UPDATE statements.
Why this matters
Append-only is the property that makes an audit log trustworthy. A log you can UPDATE is a log someone can quietly rewrite, which defeats the reason for having one.
