Problem statement
requires: t4-p1-01
Spec
One page covering who has this problem, how they solve it today - including doing nothing - what the problem costs, and your specific hypothesis for why an automated tool helps.
Why this matters
"Doing nothing" is the competitor that wins most often, and the one most product plans omit. Naming the current cost is what makes the hypothesis falsifiable later.

# t4-p1-02 — Problem statement
**Task:** One page covering who has this problem, how they solve it today - including doing nothing - what the problem costs, and your specific hypothesis for why an automated tool helps.
**Strong:** Directly answers every one of the review questions below in the affirmative, with specific evidence from the actual work, not a restatement of the task.
- Is "doing nothing" treated as a real alternative?
- Is the hypothesis specific enough to be proven wrong?
**Passing but weak:** The deliverable exists and technically satisfies the spec, but is generic, restates the task instructions instead of engaging with them, or only partially addresses the review questions below.
**Fails:** The deliverable is missing, or engages with none of the review questions below - e.g. it describes what was built without explaining the reasoning the task actually asks for.
